Job Description

We're looking for a Mainframe Developer with solid cards domain experience to join a delivery team in Toronto. The ideal candidate brings strong COBOL and JCL skills, a good understanding of the end-to-end card lifecycle, and the ability to contribute across the full software development lifecycle.

What you'll do

  • Develop and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, VSAM, and DB2
  • Support defect resolution during testing cycles and participate in release management activities
  • Manage the full software development lifecycle from requirements gathering through to deployment
  • Perform code reviews, enforce coding standards, and ensure quality of deliverables
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to mainframe applications
  • Optimize mainframe systems for performance and efficiency
  • Collaborate with business analysts, QA, and stakeholder teams to design and deliver technical solutions
  • Create and maintain technical documentation including functional and technical specifications
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks and contribute to process improvement initiatives
  • Provide guidance and support to other team members

What you bring

  • 4 to 8 years of mainframe development experience
  • Strong hands-on skills in COBOL, JCL, VSAM, and DB2
  • Good knowledge of Unix scripting
  • Solid understanding of the cards domain with a focus on the issuing side and end-to-end card lifecycle
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across business and technical teams
  • Eligibility for a mandatory background check

Nice to have

  • Experience supporting large-scale card platform migrations or upgrades
  • Familiarity with mainframe performance tuning and optimization techniques
  • Prior experience mentoring junior developers
