Job Title: Welder – Metal Fabrication Shop

About the Company: Cactus Varied Industries is a millwright and fabrication company located in Amarillo, TX. A division of Cactus Feeders, Cactus Varied Industries offers a variety of millwright and fabrication services. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our shop team as a Welder. All levels of experience will be considered.

Job Description: The Welder/Fabricator is responsible for fabricating and assembling metal components using a variety of welding techniques. This position will work primarily with mild steel and stainless steel and will play a key role in producing high-quality components for fabrication projects, including feedyard equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform MIG, TIG, and/or Stick welding on mild steel and stainless steel
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders
• Fabricate and assemble metal components to specification
• Operate fabrication equipment such as grinders, plasma torch, saws, and cutting tools
• Inspect welds to ensure quality, strength, and accuracy
• Assist with general shop duties and material handling
• Maintain equipment and ensure proper working condition
• Communicate effectively with team members and management
• Show up to work on time, every time
• Follow all safety regulations and procedures, holding safety paramount
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
• Welding experience in a fabrication or shop environment preferred
• Experience with feedyard fabrication is a plus
• Welding education or formal training is a significant plus
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail
• Ability to use measuring tools and work with numbers
• Basic computer skills; AutoCAD experience is a plus but not required
• Team player with strong communication skills

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift, carry, and move materials up to 50 lbs
• Ability to stand, bend, and work in various positions for extended periods
• Comfortable working in a shop environment with exposure to heat, noise, and equipment

Work Environment:

• Metal fabrication shop environment focused on safety, quality, and teamwork
• Training provided as needed on shop equipment and processes
